Hi Posie,

If you are taking immunosuppressant drugs it would be best to see someone now, not wait till Monday.
Hope you can get some treatment.

I think Chrissie's old lady is in her 90's !
Try to see someone if you can, the mtx will have suppressed your immune system even though you are off it for now.
What are your symptoms, do you have a temperature?

It sounds as if the infection is taking hold then , with a temp and feeling cold.
Do you have an out of hours service where you live? If not, ring NHS Direct and see what they advise. Don't forget to mention the mtx.
Let us know how you get on.

Hi Posie

Really good advice from Doreen ThumpUp I had several UTI s last year, one after another, whilst taking methotrexate. Have you had a blood test recently? Wondering what the neutrophil count is like? Mine plummented to serious levels and hence the reason I was collecting infections like stamps!

UTI can be quickly resolved but you will need appropriate antibiotics. Initially mine wasn't picked up as I thought I was in shock from falling in the shower! Well, the symptoms were similar!!

Do seek medical advice though before it really takes hold. You will need to come off the methotrexate until it is completely clear.

Hi Posie,

That's great that you've managed to get antibiotics.
The mtx will stay in your system for quite a while, but being ill with the chest infection and now the UTI can easily bring on a flare.

Get lots of rest, take the antibiotics and painkillers and drink lots of fluids.
Hope you feel better soon.

Smile Hi Posie

You need to nip this in the bud. UTIs can be very painful and problematic. Ring your doc asap and ask for an emergency appointment. Let us know how you go on

right the lady is 93 she forgets to drink .

The chest infection and the UTI CAN GO TOGETHER it does not matter about age

YOU can get UTI at any age babys get it ,

The 93 needs a scan as UTI can damage and she has started too vomit for no reason it just comes up .

maybe though drinking as it looks as she has pleanty but i measherd it 1/4 cup of tea here Half cup there all together lot less then you think .

drinks if you drink the same thing all day like tea it might help your inconcance along .Plus not helping to clear infection .
i went on a course a few weeks ago for Red cross about UTI incontance

you need antibo ics because the tube from the bladder is conceted too the kidneys and infection can get into the plevic floor .
if it has you usealy leak a brown yukie stuff .

if no joy go to dept of GUM AT HOSPITAL you can self refure and its not all about sex and aid and stds its other stuff .

Keep drinking lots of fluids as well as the anti-bios and be ready with the canestan incase they give you thrush.Blushing

I had my very first UTI when I was 11. Yes, 11! It can happen!

I went through a spell of having them a lot and then had a real kidney problem- its all to do with the meds reducing your immune response, but of course the RA itself causes you to get things and not fight them well.

Tuck up somewhere cosy but KEEP DRINKING- every time you look at your hand and think "There isnt a drink in my hand" get another pint of cranberry squash or water down you!

Hello Jenni, I'v been in the hospital with a kidney infection, five days on intravenous anti-biotics.Came out Tuesday night with oral anti-biotics but I'm still peeing blood. I went to my GP on Friday, she was very good and gave me another weeks pills and arranged an appointment with the urology for tests. She did say that if it was a stone then that could cause the bleeding or the persistant infection. I had been feeling like I had a urinary infection for five days before beeing taken to the hospital but I tried to ignor it. I am still having very painful episodes.I wondered what had happened to you when you had your problems. Glenys.x
